Job Title: EURēCA! Research Assistant for Housing and Health Research Project
 
Job Location/AddressFully Remote
 
Purpose:
The research assistant will support a dissertation research project related to health, housing, and neighborhoods, providing information and experience related to qualitative research, community-based research, and interdisciplinary research projects. This work-study employee will collaborate with a PhD student in the department of Health and Behavioral Sciences.
 
Position Description:
The research assistant will primarily work on transcriptions of qualitative research data and compiling Census data related to SW Denver (including historical data, health data, and demographic data) into tables and charts. This work-study employee will be involved in all aspects of research pending interest and ability, including discussions about study design, interview guide development, transcription, analysis, and writing.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Obtaining research certificate from CITI Training (Group 2 Social & Behavioral Research)
- Organization of qualitative research data
- Correcting computer-generated transcriptions of Spanish- and English-speaking participants
- Summarizing interview data
- Compiling Census data for SW Denver into tables/charts
- Writing field notes and analytic memos
 
Skills and Knowledge Gained:
Qualitative research experience; Critical thinking; Comparison of perspectives; Summary skills; CITI Training certification
 
Minimum Qualifications:
- Fluent or native speaker in Spanish required (a large portion of this project is in Spanish)
- Ability to work independently
- Organizational skills
 
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of social determinants of health and mental health
- Experience with public health or social science research
 
Position Commitment:
10 h/week
